Here's the new 2009 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, the hardest of the German firm’s hardcore racers. Porsche has made significant changes to the RSR for 2009 – the most noticeable exterior change being the black venting on the bonnet, accommodating a completely redesigned air intake system for the radiators and supplying air for the optional air-con. Who is this car aimed at?
In early 2013 Audi lost a case brought by the Advertising Standard Agency (ASA) because of ‘misleading’ fuel economy figures used in an advert, after a customer complained they couldn’t get anywhere near the 68mpg quoted. The court case once more exposes the yawning gap between officially sanctioned mpg figures and those experienced by owners. A recent study by the Independent Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) looked at cars sold in the UK and Europe, and discovered the difference between official mpg figures and real-world driving had grown from 8% in 2001 to a barely believable 21% in 2011.
The results of the tenth annual Autostyle 2013 design competition are in, with three Italian and two French design students earning this year's top plaudits. The contest challenged students from eight schools from around the world to create a custom vehicle from a Citroën Revolte concept, Suzuki SX4, Audi Crosslane, Land Rover Defender DC100 concept or Maserati Ghibli. The schools involved were: Creapole; Istituto Europeo di Design (IED); Institut Supérieur du Design (ISD); Istituto Superiore Scienza dell'Automobile di Modena (ISSAM); Politecnico di Milano; Royal College of Art; Strate College; and Umeå University of Design.
